Privacy policy

1. What we collect

• Account: your email address, or your Google account's email and name if you sign in with Google.
• Profile you write: first name, age, gender, who you're interested in, the age range and kind of connection you want (love, a date, friendship), city and country, whether you'd meet online or in person, and your own texts about who you are, what you want and what you don't want.
• Optional: Instagram handle, phone number, photos and short videos you choose to add.
• Activity: your matches, the notes you exchange with matches, your conversation with Claudette on this site, who invited you and whom you invited.
• Technical: a session cookie to keep you signed in, and standard server logs (IP address, time, page) kept for security.

2. Sensitive data

Who you're interested in can reveal your sexual orientation, which is special-category data under the GDPR. We collect it only with your explicit consent, only to find you matches, never show it publicly and never sell it. You can change or delete it at any time.

3. How we use it

• To match you with other members: once a week we compare profiles and introduce people whose wants fit.
• To read your profile as five tarot cards and write short "readings" explaining why two people match.
• To send you sign-in links, match emails and, only if you opt in, text or WhatsApp messages (at most once a week).
• To keep the service safe: preventing abuse, checking uploaded photos for explicit content.

Legal bases: performing our service for you (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR), your explicit consent for sensitive data and optional messages (Art. 6(1)(a), 9(2)(a)), and our legitimate interest in security (Art. 6(1)(f)). We don't use your data for advertising and don't sell it.

4. Who sees it

• Nobody browses profiles. There is no public directory.
• Your matches see your five cards. Once they've unlocked the match they also see your first name, age, city, your profile texts, your photos, and your Instagram and phone only if you ticked "share my contacts".
• Our team can see profiles to run and check matchmaking and handle reports.

5. Third parties (processors)

• AI processing: profile texts and photos are sent to AI models through fal.ai (and the OpenRouter router it uses, with models such as Google Gemini) to write readings, score compatibility and check photos. They act as processors and do not use the data to train models for us.
• Hosting: Railway (servers and database storage).
• Email: our own mail server hosted at Hetzner, Germany.
• Sign-in: Google, if you choose Google sign-in.
• Text messages: Twilio, only if you opt in.

Some of these providers are in the United States; transfers rely on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

6. Claude, ChatGPT and other assistants

If you connect Claudette to an AI assistant, the assistant sends us only what you ask it to (for example "save this to my profile" or "send this note to my match") through the connector's tools, and receives your profile, cards, matches and notes. We never receive or store your other conversations with that assistant, and we don't build your profile from them. Disconnect any time in the assistant's settings; that ends its access.

7. How long we keep it

• Your profile, photos, matches and notes: while your account exists. When you delete your account, we delete them within 30 days.
• Sign-in links expire after 30 minutes and sign-in sessions after 90 days. Assistant access tokens expire after 30 days and are renewed while you keep the connection.
• Server logs: kept by our host for a limited period, at most 30 days.

8. Your rights

You can access, correct, export or delete your data, withdraw consent, and object to processing. Edit your profile any time on the site or by asking Claudette; for anything else email hello@claudette.chat and we answer within 30 days. You can also complain to a data protection authority, in Germany the Bayerisches Landesamt für Datenschutzaufsicht.

9. Age

Claudette matches adults only. You must be 18 or older to create a profile; we delete accounts of anyone under 18.
